Prasidh Krishna became the man of the match

West Indies cricket team was defeated by India by 44 runs

West Indies cricket team was defeated by India in the second One-Day International on Wednesday at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, securing the series. Prasidh Krishna was India’s star bowler, taking four wickets for 12 runs in nine overs to scare the West Indies and set the stage for India’s victory. During his spell, the fast bowler bowled two maiden overs, which is remarkable in ODI cricket these days.

Shardul Thakur conceded a few runs in his first stint, but recovered to take two wickets for 41 runs in his second. Yuzvendra Chahal, Deepak Hooda, Mohammed Siraj, and Washington Sundar each got one wicket to ensure the West Indies didn’t have too much effort to do in the chase.

Nicholas Pooran, the stand-in skipper in place of injured Kieron Pollard, had won the toss earlier in the day and asked India to bat first. Rohit Sharma alongside Rishabh Pant came to open the innings for India. This was Rishabh Pant’s first game as an opening batsman in ODI cricket for India. The strategy, however, failed when Rohit Sharma was bowled for 5 runs and Rishabh Pant was dismissed for 18.

Virat Kohli, the former India captain, continues to battle with form, scoring only 18 runs like Pant. KL Rahul and Suryakumar Yadav, on the other hand, made an important partnership. After a mix-up with Suryakumar Yadav, KL Rahul reached 49 runs before running himself out.

Suryakumar Yadav hit 5 boundaries and scored 64 runs in his innings. Yadav’s innings helped India reach 239 in 50 overs, which ended up being a winning total.

Rohit Sharma praises Prasidh Krishna’s Spell

India captain Rohit Sharma praised Prasidh Krishna’s performance in the second ODI of the three-match series against West Indies on Wednesday. Shikhar Dhawan is expected to return for the third and final ODI, according to Rohit.

Dhawan, along with Shreyas Iyer, Ruturaj Gaikwad, and Navdeep Saini, tested positive for COVID-19 before the series began. Rohit’s comments came after India won the second One-Day International by 44 runs to take a 2-0 lead in the three-match series. India defeated West Indies by 44 runs in the second One-Day International at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, thanks to Prasidh Krishna’s four-wicket haul.

“Obviously winning the series is a good feeling. There were some challenges. The partnership between Rahul and Surya had a lot of maturity. We got to a respectable total in the end. We knew we could fight it out. The entire unit came out and bowled superbly. It is important for these guys to bat under pressure and that is how you will judge their character”, Rohit stated.

We don’t mind losing a few games trying out a few things. Because it is important to look at the long-term goals. We will see what works out well for the team combination. I was a little surprised to see no dew. I have never seen a spell like that in India for a long time now. Prasidh bowled with a lot of pace and kept it going. The others complemented him,” Rohit added.

“Surya had to take his time and understand what the team wants from him. KL also batted superbly as he is consistently up and down in the order. I have been asked to try something different. We wanted to try it one game. Shikhar should be back for the next game. When you have five bowlers and Deepak being sixth, you always need to keep rotating the bowlers,” he added.

West Indies stand-in captain Nicholas Pooran expressed dissatisfaction after his team was defeated by India in the second one-day international of the three-match series on Wednesday at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
